Alcatel-Lucent’s Technology Symposium


On November 14 and 15, Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) held its 2013 Technology Symposium in Basking Ridge, NJ. CEO Michael Combes gave the kick-off presentation to an attentive audience of about 180 industry and financial analysts, journalists, and ALU employees, outlining ALU’s vision for the future. ALU sees a 5-year transition from the networks of today into cloud-based ultra-broadband (UBB). Its strategy aligns with the shift to transform a generalist firm into a UBB specialist. UBB means high-speed broadband access anytime, anyplace, anywhere, and any way, provided by LTE, small cells, and fiber joined with the software-defined networking (SDN)/network functions virtualization (NFV) provisioned-cloud.
