Delphi Connect Extended with In-car Wi-Fi Hotspot Feature
The Delphi-Verizon partnership on aftermarket telematics solutions resulted in the launch of Delphi Connect in the United States in March 2013. It is based on an OBD II plug-and-play cellular modem module and a Bluetooth connection to an iOS/Android smartphone (application). Features include vehicle health alerts such as low battery, check engine light, and high RPM via web, e-mail, and text messages; diagnostics and monitoring data automatically uploaded to the cloud; speeding and circular and rectangular geofence boundary crossings alerts, real-time vehicle tracking, and monitoring including vehicle trip logs (dates, times, mileage, breadcrumbs); and the use of the smartphone as a key fob for remote door unlock, start, and horn. These services are primarily targeted at parents and teenage drivers as well as small businesses.
