Los Angeles Council Approves a Citywide Wi-Fi Plan


Last week the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously in favor of moving forward with a plan to cover the whole city with Wi-Fi access, offering free service to both residents and businesses. The project, which has been under discussion for several months now, has finally landed approval and the council wishes to move forward by opening the bidding process for companies.

Free Wi-Fi Stimulates Economic Growth


A previous attempt to blanket the city with Wi-Fi was made 5 years ago in 2007 but was dismissed because it was too expensive at that time. The current project is estimated to cost between $60 million and $5 billion, depending on the speed and fiber layout cost, but an alternative approach has been adopted this time. ...
