Euro NCAP Conducts First ADAS-based Collision Avoidance Test

Urban and Inter-Urban Tests


On October 29, safety-ratings agency Euro NCAP released the results of its first automatic emergency braking (AEB) and collision mitigation tests using cars equipped with the latest ADAS technology. The testconsisted of two types of rear-end collisions simulating typical real-life driving situations:

  • AEB City: A low-speed test up to 50 km/hour (30 mph)
  • AEB Inter-Urban: A higher-speed test up to 80 km/hour (48 mph)

Each car that was tested was awarded up to 3 points and classified as follows: Good (2 to 3 points), Adequate (1 to 2 points), or Marginal (0 to 1 points).
