The 129th IPU Assembly


The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is the international organization of parliaments, which was established back in 1889. The union is the “focal point for world-wide parliamentary dialogue and works for peace and co-operation among peoples and for the firm establishment of representative democracy.” The 129th Assembly took place in Geneva October 7-9, 2013. Uruguay submitted a request to the IPU for the inclusion of an emergency item of debate, entitled "Cyber warfare – A serious threat to peace and global security."
