The International Broadcasting Convention: TV Politics Edition

Perhaps the best benefit afforded by attending IBC (the International Broadcasting Convention, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in mid-September 2013) is the ability to engage with vendors and operators from places as far as Malaysia, Nigeria, Brazil, Russia, and Spain. Of course, ABI Research is an international company with operations in London, Singapore, and Geneva, and I am frequently traveling and speaking with experts, especially in Europe and Asia. Yet face-to-face dialogue and the many opportunities presented are invaluable. In these discussions, I have had two stark reminders about how political TV is; I pass these along to my heavily technology-influenced readers as a reminder that your government affairs liaisons’ and strategy colleagues’ views should not be left out when looking at new projects.
