Application Enablement Platforms (AEP) decrease M2M application development time and extend application reach. They operate in the value-added services (VAS) portion of the M2M/IoE value chain—a market projected to exceed $100 billion in five years. AEP value for enterprise is the time-to-market advantage, and dramatic reduction in application development costs. However, inhibiting adoption is internal application development and general lack of awareness of this supplier segment.
In this report, ABI Research examines and quantifies the drivers and threats to AEPs. It also examines the trends and supplier activities shaping the AEP marketplace including analysis of AEP suppliers in a three layer taxonomy of the M2M VAS ecosystem.
AEPs are quantified in terms of revenues and connections. Revenue segmentation is provided by region, by M2M application, and by connection type. Connected assets enabled by AEPs are also quantified for cellular and non-cellular machine connections.
