There is no chance that either HTML5 or the native code would someday make the other obsolete. Both will be needed. However, there’s a clearer zero-sum game looming over the distribution of mobile applications. Arguably the most valid argument for why the web is unlikely to challenge the paradigm of native storefronts is that it lacks the frictionless billing mechanisms, and the means of app discovery.
