Mass Market Consumer Sales Channels for Home Automation

This report assesses the current state and future prospects for home automation sales channels which are undergoing great transition as home automation and connected homes move into the broad market.

Home automation has been a mass market in waiting for decades but only recently have the building blocks to expand the market from a niche moved into place. Therefore the home automation services and equipment are being marketed to a new broad range of consumers. This also means that the traditional custom installation delivered by specialist professional installers and integrators will no longer be the primary sales channel.

New and existing players are examining the potential for a range of sales channels for their services and there are conflicting beliefs and approaches as to what will serve the broad market. Existing home automation providers and installers will increasingly compete against home security, telecom, cable, utility companies, consumer electronics retailers, and others.

This report examines the drivers for sales channels in home automation and how these systems will develop. Included are forecasts for the home automation market as well as for installation and retail shipments and system revenues. In addition, there are forecasts for home automation node shipments by sales channel.
