Hewlett-Packard Acquires Colubris Networks: Opposites Attract, but Should They Marry?

The consolidation of wireless LAN equipment companies is accelerating. First, we saw Belden’s acquisition of Trapeze Networks. Then came the Siemens joint venture with the Gores group that swallowed the Siemens Enterprise division – which itself had previously acquired WLAN equipment provider Chantry Networks. Now Hewlett Packard has acquired Colubris Networks. Talk about culture shock: it’s a bit like Prince Charles bringing Paris Hilton home for the weekend. Can it work?
