On November 22, 2016, Retarus—a global enterprise cloud messaging service provider founded in 1992 and based in Germany—announced that it was expanding its data center in Singapore to better serve the Asia-Pacific market. Before this development, customers in the region had to rely on data centers in Europe or the U.S., resulting in higher latency times. The Singapore data center also allows European and American companies to have a more efficient and dependable line of communication with their Asian subsidiaries. As enterprises continue to grow more connected and turn toward new methods of global communication, they are increasingly turning toward companies like Retarus to deliver secure, global messaging solutions for peer-to-peer, application-to-person, and machine-to-machine applications.

Global Expansion

Cloud Messaging Verticals

IMPACT

Retarus provides enterprise users with cloud communication services as well as integration services and middleware solutions. Additionally, Retarus provides bi-directional messaging services for IoT and M2M applications, such as using SMS predictive maintenance alerts to prevent machine outages for Volkswagen’s manufacturing equipment and enabling wearables to connect to the SAP Cloud to control email and processing flow of information. Retarus serves a variety of verticals in automotive, banking and finance, healthcare, IT and telecommunications, insurance, logistics, and manufacturing, but is particularly focused on automotive, finance, and healthcare. By continuing to develop business analytics, as well as supporting global standardization and process improvement, Retarus is well-positioned to continue delivering value to enterprise clients.

Old vs. New

COMMENTARY

While the tools used to communicate in an increasingly connected economy are changing, some heavily regulated industries, such as banking and healthcare in the U.S., rely primarily on fax machines. This is due in part to legal reasons, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), combined with the fact that no one communication standard has yet emerged to replace the fax machine. Service and communication providers must recognize that even if enterprises want to adopt new technologies, traditional technologies still need to be supported at least for a time to ensure a proper transition. These connected communication services cannot sweep in and immediately change the way enterprises process information and communicate. Rather, service and communication providers need to be willing to work with enterprise clients to help them master these changes from the initial consulting and onboarding, and through to product support and enhancement post-deployment.

Additionally, it is imperative that providers are able to work with a global network of partners to help drive these global changes on regional levels. Retarus works with AT&T, HP, T-Systems, IBM, Atos, Fujitsu, Telefónica, and other partners to help design and support systems and an enterprise messaging platform that works for enterprise clients across its target markets. Enterprises also prefer the peace of mind and ease of development and deployment that comes from partner created IoT solutions, due in part because multiple partners are able to leverage a broader set of expertise to deliver more effective project management, especially when integrating new systems with legacy systems. No one solution provider can do it alone; providers that join together can focus on strengthening their core competencies while leveraging the strengths of their partners.
