It produces electricity from, in descending order, natural gas, lignite, nuclear power, renewables, hard coal, and pumped storage. It is the world’s second-largest producer of offshore wind power, and Europe’s third-largest renewable energy company. It was founded in 1898 in Essen, Germany, where it is still headquartered today.
