Research Analyst - Smart Mobility & Automotive - US or UK Based

Reporting to the Principal Analyst, the Research Analyst will have experience in data collection and analysis of related technologies and applications or on the client-side in implementing and providing Smart Mobility & Automotive solutions.

Responsibilities

In this role, the analyst will be responsible for data collection and analysis across the following areas and products:

  • Automotive Sales Data  - Shipments and installed base of vehicles per use type, class, powertrain type, and country

  • Smart Mobility – track adoption of new mobility modes such as car sharing, ridehailing and robotaxis

  • Connected Automotive Infotainment Systems – Connected navigation, Multimedia streaming, In-car Wi-Fi solutions and OTA updates

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)– ACC,  AEB / FCW, LDW, LKA, night vision system, pedestrian detection

  • Autonomous Driving Technologies – Sensors, Compute Platform, AI

  • Electric Vehicles – tracking adoption of BEVs, battery technology and smart charging approaches

  • Automotive HMI and user interfaces – Touch screens, Voice Assistants, Heads Up Displays (HUDs) , Digital Clusters, Gesture Controls

  • Automotive Operating Systems and standards – Windows Embedded, QNX, Android, Linux, GENIVI, HTML5

  • Automotive Open Platforms and Application stores

  • Usage Based Insurance (UBI) and Driver behavior monitoring

  • In-car networking technologies (Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, CAN, LIN, MOST, FlexRay)

  • Smartphone integration solutions – Screen replication technologies (Apple Car Play, Android Auto,), remote control solutions (door unlock, remote start)

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems and Smart Cities – Traffic information and management systems, electronic toll collect and road use charging, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure technologies (DSRC, C-V2X, V2V, V2I, 5G)

  • Industry Consortia – AGL, GENIVI, C2C-CC, OAA

    Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for automotive data collection and analysis related to technologies and solutions

  • Help develop ABI Research’s  Smart Mobility & Automotive market intelligence service, providing guidance and input based on clients’ needs and industry trends

  • Support analysts in the automotive research team for both syndicated and consultative research projects

  • Support sales and business development activities by preparing customer-specific analysis, and participating in key meetings with clients, prospects, and partners

  • Author syndicated research reports, research briefs, market forecasts, and articles within one or more areas of personal expertise

Skills

  • Knowledge of the industry, including familiarity with major players, competitive dynamics, technology & business issues, and market trends

  • Knowledge of and/or interest in ICT technology

  • Secondary market research skills with focus on data-centric search, collection, aggregation, and analysis

  • Developed quantitative and analytical skills with high focus on quality control

  • Customer-centric, open-minded approach to solving business and analytical problems

  • Ability to succinctly compile and compose written reports detailing market trends, assumptions and competitive analysis

  • Demonstrated history using Microsoft Excel for complex analysis and modeling

    Additional Skills / Information

  • Experience in product management, market analysis,  new product development, product marketing, market research, or industry analysis is preferred

  • Ability to collate and interpret companies’ financial information

  • Bachelor’s degree required
