ST-Ericsson: The Final Chapter

On December 10, 2012, STMicroelectronics announced it would be pulling out of its mobile device IC joint venture, ST-Ericsson. STMicroelectronics follows other large semiconductor suppliers that have left the mobile device IC market in recent years. There have been signs of green shoots in ST-Ericsson’s platform business, as it announced over five design wins at MWC 2012 for its Nova Thor platform.
