The global average file-size for all categories was 23 MB as of the end of September, or 16% more than in March. Apple’s decision to lift the cellular download file-size cap enables more sophisticated apps to now take advantage of the instant gratification of 3G/4G-powered storefront access. A number of reasons exist for the disparity in file-sizes in categories other than games, with Android apps tending to be substantially smaller than iOS apps.
