Verizon Moving Up the M2M Value Chain with Hughes Telematics, Inc. Acquisition
Company Insight
Verizon intends to move further up the value chain by offering more of the end-solution to customers. ABI Research sees Verizon as seeking to focus on the telematics market as its first foray into providing vertical service enablement, before branching out. Verizon expects that acquisition of HTI would enable it to accelerate growth efforts in key vertical machine to machine (M2M) segments beyond telematics; mHealth is one segment that is specifically identified.
