Horizontal standards for M2M are starting to pick up steam in the industry. At the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) meeting in Beijing, China in September 2010 (GSC-15), leading standards development organizations established the M2M Standardization Task Force (MSTF). The MSTF is meant to coordinate the efforts of the individual service delivery organizations (SDOs).
