Not So Sizzling Summer to Spur Smart Home Growth?
Market Insight
Recently, UK residents learned that the summer of 2011 was officially their coldest in 18 years. Central England is reported to have averaged just 15°C (59°F) in the period since June 1. For a nation famed for complaining about the weather, the news came just one day after a chilly August Bank Holiday weekend (notorious for giving the British renewed reason to grumble and to turn on the central heating). With unprecedented cold snaps characterizing the previous two winters and many of the country’s leading utilities set to substantially increase gas and electricity prices, consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of their energy consumption. In an effort to minimize costs, many are now looking to employ one of the various energy monitoring tools that are now making their way onto the market. Some of these tools also provide home automation capabilities.
