2011 Global Survey Results
Survey
This report presents the results from ABI Research’s 2011 Contactless Payments - Smartcards & Mobile Payments Survey. It was an online study conducted in 2Q 2011. In total, it was completed by a total of 1,500 respondents in the US, the UK, and Japan (500 each). The survey questionnaire was designed to assess and review the current availability, awareness, and activity of both contactless bank/payment cards and contactless (NFC) mobiles. It focuses on the necessary hardware, infrastructure, applications, services, and brand names related to these products and technologies. Included within this is specific examination and analysis regarding the attraction and appeal to consumers of each type of service, as well as addressing the barriers and concerns that may inhibit or need to be overcome for successful service uptake.
Analyst commentary accompanies the full findings, providing additional insight and highlighting significant points of note. This ties the survey in with other areas of ABI Research's expertise and adds relevance by relating to market developments, service launches, and new products. Respondents were members of a leading global online market research panel. The survey criteria was for adults (age 18+) who own a mobile phone and/or a smartphone. A relatively even split of males and females and a mix of ages participated.
