Continua Brings its Attention to Wi-Fi
Market Insight
Continua Health Alliance has entered into an agreement with the Wi-Fi Alliance to facilitate and promote the Wi-Fi networking standard in connected health applications. The agreement brings two key industry groups together to review each group’s specifications and guidelines jointly. It will also help move Wi-Fi support into personal health and fitness applications originally dominated by proprietary communication protocols, but subsequently standardized on Continua’s ZigBee and Bluetooth Low Energy offerings. Continua’s effort with the Wi-Fi Alliance means that those technologies will increasingly face Wi-Fi, and most notably Low-power Wi-Fi, for wireless sensor communication as a competitor in this emerging market space.
