Mobile Operators Are Working to Reduce Cost of 3G/4G Technology for M2M App Developers
Market Insight
- Published 07 Feb 2011 by Jeff Orr
In the United States, the three largest mobile operators have been vocal in their desire to shift all data applications over to 3G and even 4G (LTE and WiMAX) technology – not just laptop PC cellular connectivity but also M2M applications. Most recently, AT&T and Sprint have each struck deals with cellular embedded module vendors to provide modules for M2M application developer partners at discounted rates. AT&T is working with Ericsson, Huawei, and ZTE (the latter two being leading China-based module vendors) while Sprint has selected Fusion Wireless, an innovative new CDMA-focused module vendor based in San Diego, California.
