In mid-2007, China Mobile began evaluating a vast TD-SCDMA infrastructure with deployments in eight large cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin. The construction of the TD-SCDMA network for this trial was finished in January 2008 and commercial pilot tests have been taking place since April 1, 2008.
