Smartphone vs. "Dumbphone" Users
Perhaps it’s just the programs I watch on TV, but it seems to me that there is a preponderance of smartphone ads on television lately; in fact, I can’t turn on the TV without seeing an ad for the Droid or the iPhone or Blackberry or some state-of-the-art HTC model. At the moment, I’m perfectly happy using my two year old basic mobile phone, but before long I’ll probably succumb to the tactics of the ad agencies representing smartphone manufacturers and carriers. They’ll persuade me that I “need” a smartphone. I must confess, though, that I just don’t think I fit the demographic profile of a smartphone user. Then again, are there really any differences between the people who use smartphones and those of us who use, for lack of a better term, “dumbphones”?
