Intel Invites Itself to the Smartphone Party with Moorestown Processor Launch
Wednesday, May 5th, Intel took the wraps off its anticipated re-entry into the smartphone and handheld mobile device market. Formerly known as the Moorestown project, the Atom Z600 series (Z6xx) processors are targeted at Media Tablets and high-end Smartphone designs. Because of this positioning for new device form-factors, ABI Research expects little cannibalization to the existing Atom N-series and Z-series, but how will Atom compare in the real world when partner handhelds come to market?
