In December, the Bluetooth SIG released its official BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) specification. Chipset vendors will be able to put the finishing touches on their designs and product manufacturers will have products on the market in less than six months. BLE is a radio specification from the Bluetooth SIG that can take advantage of low power transmission with improved power efficiency. This new wireless technology allows Product manufacturers to vastly extend the number of products and applications in which Bluetooth can be implemented.
