Festive Cheer for Handset Vendors at The Tills… But What for Microsoft?

The mobile handset market is very much recovering its old form. While 3Q-2009 results were down 6.5% year on year, 3Q-2009 was 8.3% up sequentially on 2Q-2009. 2Q-2009 was 5.3% up on 1Q-2009 and that sequential dynamic is more in keeping with the long-term seasonality of the mobile handset market. That bodes well for 4Q-2009. We should all be in for a festive 4Q-2009.
