Why Papa John’s Pizza Bodes Well for Mobile Commerce

Paying for goods and services using a mobile phone is an intriguing concept that has not yet been fully realized. The mobile industry sees potential opportunity in increased data ARPU, but there remains an underlying question as to whether mass market consumers want to use their phones in this manner. In late November 2008, Papa John’s, the world’s third-largest pizza company, reported $1 million in sales from its mobile site in the first six months of operation. While this is a small percentage of the company’s overall sales, the rapid growth is encouraging news for mobile commerce as a whole for several reasons:
