Apple TV Rumors Persist, But Why?

Industry insiders and pundits alike continue to proclaim the Apple TV (not another STB) is on the horizon. To their credit, this might seem like a natural extension to the company’s product portfolio, especially since the primary screen or TV is perhaps Apple’s “last (screen) frontier.” Despite the company’s myriad of successes in the portable/mobile/computing markets, the largest screen in the house continues to elude Apple. Still, considering the economic environment and softening sales of HDTVs, is this a prudent or necessary move?
