Mobile Security Vendors: Don’t Forget Cost Management and Worker Productivity

Recently, three mobile security vendors were reviewed for their contributions to the mobility and device management market: Juniper’s Junos Pulse Mobile Security suite, McAfee’s Enterprise Mobility Manager, and Symantec’s Mobile Solutions. I was struck by their near-singular message around mobile security and their lack of discussion about cost benefits and worker productivity from their security solutions. Mobile security is a hot topic; still, as the enterprise segment continues to increase its dependence on mobile devices, apps, and services, managing costs and using mobile to increase worker productivity and competitiveness are also important solution messages. The review begs the question of should mobile security vendors provide a more balanced message around the cost and worker productivity benefits of their security solutions?
