This Research Brief discusses a portion of the results from two online surveys that were fielded in late June and early July (June 30-July 2) 2010 and April of 2008. The 2010 survey had a total of 1,005 US respondents, 1,002 US respondents in 2008. This research focuses on the consumer electronics in the home (including computers) and where digital content is stored. The installed base for HDTVs and Blu-ray players continues to grow as others such as digital cameras and portable media/MP3 players are approaching maturity and facing competition from mobile phones. Laptop computers are becoming the preferred computing device over desktops and Apple has increased its share over the course of the past two years.
