Deutsche Telekom After the American Adventure

Deutsche Telekom's management has had two widely-reported headaches over the past couple of years: the T-Mobile business in the US and the one in the UK. Deutsche Telekom resolved the UK dilemma about 18 months ago by a merger with Orange, and now it finally seems to have found a dance partner for T-Mobile USA as well. The fact that it was AT&T in the end and not Sprint makes a lot of sense. Both are GSM carriers, and merging them would give Deutsche Telekom exposure to a market leader – a much more compelling proposition than a rumored tie-up as T-Sprint.
