AT&T has made a bold move purchasing T-Mobile USA for US$39 billion. Deutsche Telekom, which owned T-Mobile USA, has agreed to sell it for $25 billion in cash and the remainder in AT&T stock. This makes Deutsche Telekom an AT&T stock holder giving it an 8% stake in the US operator giant. What drove AT&T to make this surprise move on the heels of the CTIA show in Orlando?
