Five Bars of Capacity - Coming to a Smartphone Near You

The only meter on a mobile device today is the five-bar coverage indicator. Unfortunately that doesn’t provide enough information on available capacity. Quite often the case is that users see five-bars of coverage, but are unable to download email or even make a phone call. How soon can we expect the synonymous five-bar coverage to be accompanied by a smart capacity meter that provides real-time capacity information?
