AT&T Revs Location-Based Ad Targeting with Placecast Deal

AT&T has inked a new deal with Placecast to start sending special offers via text message (SMS) to opted-in mobile phone users when they are near a participating retail store or brand. We highlighted this type of ad-targeting capability in our recent report titled Location-Based Marketing. This deal makes AT&T the first mobile operator to offer such a large-scale, location-based marketing program in the United States.
