Apple’s In-App Subscription Billing – Why Apple Will Win

On February 15, Apple announced a digital subscription billing service for publishers of content-based apps. Publishers set the price and duration of the subscription (weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or yearly) and “with one click, customers pick the length of subscription and are automatically charged based on their chosen length of commitment.” Apple keeps 30% of any subscriptions originated in iOS apps.
