MWC 2011: Networks, Policy and Small Cell Roundup

Mobile World Congress 2011 had a larger than expected turnout with the official footfall being estimated at 60K, about 11K more than MWC 2010. This is a positive sign that the recession is clearly behind us and that the mobile industry is looking beyond the much publicized 5 billion mobile connection landmark. Apart from the Nokia-Microsoft announcement that dominated most of the news at the show, there was plenty to munch on from a wireless infrastructure perspective. The key themes that we tracked this year revolved around small cells, network optimization/offload, and policy management.
