Counter to Concerns, Smart Grids are Cheaper for Consumers

Developments over the past year or so have seemed to indicate that people are concerned that smart grids will drive up their electrical rates, violate their privacy, and impact their health. However, preliminary findings of a study by utility Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OGE) appear to contradict these notions, as they show that customers given the right tools and pricing plans will modify their energy usage to minimize peak pricing and lower their energy bills – which is just how a Smart Grid is supposed to work.
