NFC / Mobile Payments: ISIS Hints At Direction

In 2010, one of the hottest topics in mobile was the announcement of the formation of Isis, a mobile payments initiative that is a joint venture among Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile US, Barclaycard, and Discover Network. The company issued very few details about the venture during the November announcement and ever since speculation has run rampant as to what Isis would do or what impact its success in the US market might have on mobile commerce. On February 1, Fierce Mobile Content published a detailed interview with Isis CEO Michael Abbott that allows us to speculate further. What can we learn reading between the lines?
