The Incredible Shrinking Music Industry

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, IFPI, has released the 2011 version of its annual Digital Music Report. The statistics included show that global digital music sales amounted to $4.6 billion in 2010, which was 6% more than a year earlier. This fairly modest increase was enough to lift the digital-channel share of the overall market total from 25% in 2009 to 29% in 2010, as overall sales continued to shrink. But, is that the whole story?
