Kyocera Wireless Modules Exits the Cellular M2M Market: Impact and Implications

On March 18, 2009, Kyocera Wireless Modules, the M2M division of Kyocera Wireless, announced that it was ceasing operation at the end of March. Although there had been some rumblings in the industry for a few months that something big was in the works with Kyocera, the news that Kyocera Wireless Modules would be shuttered, rather than sold off or made independent, came as a something of a surprise. Kyocera Wireless Modules has been a respected vendor focused on CDMA embedded modules targeted mainly at the North American market.
