With a new president comes a renewed focus on broadband in the United States – or so we’ve been told. But does more broadband necessarily mean we can expect more entertainment or functionality? This isn’t a rhetorical question; it’s a question facing everyone in the technology space, ABI Research included. There is quite a bit of hoopla surrounding cloud computing, virtual lockers, online video, social networking – all of which require a broadband connection – but what do “wider” bit pipes really mean to the end user and what ramifications, if any, could more robust download/upload speeds mean to the industry?
