BT Mobile Express: Demonstrating the “Green” with Mobile Services

Going green is a worldwide trend. Regardless of industry or product focus, companies are – at a minimum – evolving their green marketing messages. Telecom operators are going a step further and focusing on implementing policies and processes that reduce carbon footprints, including using wind and solar for base station power, using fresh-air cooling systems for datacenters, and recycling mobile phones (they do this already, but now push a green slant). Not so evident, however, is how mobile services can be used to provide an environmental benefit. To this end, British Telecom has developed a business customer-centric service called MobileXpress that not only serves business customer needs for security, reliability, and usability, but also has pronounced environmental benefits. How does this type of service benefit both mobile suppliers and customers?
