Mobilizing Latin America with Compelling Devices

Mischaracterization of the mobile device opportunity for Latin America often occurs when discussing the trends within Brazil as typical across the entire region. Each country has its own goals and challenges, and each is managing progress the best it can. For mobile broadband to succeed across Latin America, three obstacles must be overcome: the availability of high-speed networks that support both voice and data services, access to a range of compelling devices, and affordable service plans that attract subscribers. Compelling mobile devices will occur in four distinct categories: handsets, embedded computing, consumer electronics, and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications.
