Gas Glut Hurts Renewables, Helps Hybrids

The International Energy Agency, (IEA), “an intergovernmental organisation which acts as energy policy advisor to 28 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens,” recently released its World Energy Outlook 2010 (which the group describes as “the world’s most authoritative source of energy market analysis and projections,” so it must be right, right?). Among the study’s many conclusions: the worst of the global economic crisis appears to be over (phew!), oil demand and supply are becoming less sensitive to price, and a global glut of natural gas has not yet peaked and could last as long as a decade.
