Short-range connectivity protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Near Field Communications (NFC) have emerged as the preeminent means for mobile devices to share data, WWAN connectivity and functionality between themselves and supporting accessories. Despite what may appear to be similar functionality and addressable markets, these connectivity standards are continually found to co-exist on a particular device based upon individual application strengths.
