Up With Green Energy!

Americans used less energy in 2009. According to a survey by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory based on data from the US Department of Energy, US energy consumption declined in 2009 to 94.6 quadrillion BTUs, still a huge amount but nearly 5% less than the 99.2 quadrillion BTUs we consumed in 2008. The global economic downturn certainly played a role in the decline in energy usage. As Livermore energy systems analyst A. J. Simon said, “Energy use tends to follow the level of economic activity, and that level declined last year.”
