ABI Research’s market data shows that the global number of broadband subscribers reached 430.7 million by the end of 2009, as a result of the increasing demand for Internet access. Today, consumers expect wireless Internet access everywhere and all the time: in their homes, on school campuses, in their offices, in their cars, and on the street. Wi-Fi technology has become an important part of the communication industry since it enables mobile workforce to get access anywhere. The number of deployments in wireless access points, routers, and gateways is growing in both the consumer and the enterprise spaces. This demand will continue because of the increased number of portable devices such as laptops and netbooks.
