GoogleMaps, The Cape May Ferry, and The George Washington Bridge: It's Time for a PND

I work for a technology market research company and, as a result, consider myself to be more well-informed and tech savvy about new consumer electronic devices than the average consumer. However, I must confess that I also probably drag my heels more than most when it comes to actually purchasing these devices. Although I’ve done research on numerous devices including smartphones, femtocells, and PNDs (Personal Navigation Devices), I don’t have any of them. Quite honestly, I don’t feel as though I’m missing out all that much by not having a smartphone , and I don’t think I need a femtocell. And up until relatively recently, I didn’t think that a GPS device would be all that useful to me either. However, a couple of experiences on a recent road trip make me think that perhaps I really should take the plunge and get a PND or other GPS device. What, you might ask, would cause me, a technology-purchasing laggard if ever there was one, to say this?
