Verizon’s new prepaid plans are a welcome change to what has been considered a stodgy and greedy US operator environment for mobile broadband services. The reason Verizon is moving forward with these plans is a combination of first mover advantage, tapping the consumer market, competitive positioning, and pursuing new device segments for connectivity. Of course, AT&T Wireless introduced prepaid mobile broadband plans two weeks after Verizon.
