Cinterion Introduces a UMTS-only Embedded Cellular Module for M2M Applications

Cinterion Wireless Modules, an embedded cellular module vendor targeting the M2M (Machine-to-Machine) market, announced a new UMTS module at the Metering, Billing/CRM Europe 2009 tradeshow on October 6, 2009. Since the beginning of 2008, each successive generation of WCDMA module gets a little faster as the state-of-the-art has moved from HSDPA to full HSUPA with the market now mostly referring to WCDMA modules simply as “HSPA.” Is big news regarding a cost-effective and future-proof module just around the corner?
